Snorkeling Adventure Okinawa
I arrived in Okinawa by plane from Osaka, after visiting the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, where I snorkeled in three places, and I'll share one of them here:
I'll soon write a post dedicated to the Great Barrier Reef.
On this trip, I flew more than once around the world, accompanied by my youngest son, Miguel. In addition to Japan and Australia, we visited Dubai and Singapore. It was a demanding and challenging trip, but it also served as a bonding opportunity for my son. During the trip, he was able to visit three amusement parks: Universal Studios in Singapore and Osaka, and Aquaventure Waterpark in Dubai.
We spent almost a week in Okinawa and managed to snorkel in several places:
- Kibougaoka Beach
- Cape Maeda
- Blue Cave
- Tokei Hama
- Seragaki Beach
- Diamond Beach
- Mermaid's Grotto
- Nakama Sunset Beach
Cape Maeda was perhaps our favorite spot. The water was crystal clear, and the coral was incredible. The famous Blue Cave is close by, only about 200 meters away. We swam near it ourselves, although guided tours and floatation tubes are also available.
Diamond Beach almost equaled the experience of Cape Maeda. It was raining despite the intense heat, and the sea was really calm, so I was able to move quite far from the coast and see authentic coral forests with canyons:
I also highlight Tokei Hama, which is on Kouri Island, further north. The island has a bridge, making it easily accessible. The clear blue waters are stunning, and Tokei Hama forms a sort of natural pool for relaxing snorkeling.
In Seragaki Beach, I saw a sea snake for the first time:
To illustrate the conditions of this paradise, near the hotel where we stayed, the Odysis Onna Resort, which I highly recommend, there was a beach called Nakama Sunset Beach, which wasn't even listed as a snorkeling spot, but we decided to try it, and it turned out to be an incredible place.
This clearly demonstrates why Okinawa is a world-class snorkeling spot, and I have to confess that I really enjoyed Japan and the friendly attitude of the people.
Here is the link that shows snorkeling in all the above places:
